FWIW I've used a Sun Type 5 Unix-layout with a Lightwave Communications
Sun-USB converter (p/n 500.000.1002) with Linux, FreeBSD, and Mac
systems through an IOGEAR dual-DVI display KVM (GCS-1644?) over the past
10 years, with no problems that left a permanent mark lasting impression.

As Mouse wrote, keyboard preference is highly subjective. I just
received two Type 7 Unix-layout keyboards that were held by $WORK's
shipping department since March 2020. Sadly the only way to know is to
try one, and these did not pass muster - the Type 6 was a far better
native-USB experience for me (and worked fine AFAIR on a Linux desktop
PC). Your mileage will certainly vary...
