That would be a fascinating project that I would love to hear progress
on myself, being in the situation right this minute of looking for
larger-than-1TB drivers to put in mine.


One minor nit:  You said Thumper, and you also said X4540.  Did you
actually *mean* X4500 (Thumper), or X4540 (Thor)?
