I am really trying to see whether gm2 (built on gcc) builds on 
Linux/Sparc.B  After gcc-4.1.2, gcc+gm2 generated incorrect code on 
Solaris 10.B  My test was to see whether it would build on Linux.

Indeed! I installed NetBSD without problems to see whether gm2 will 
build on it.B  (NetBSD lists sparc64 as Tier 1 and gcc-10 fixes the 
ctype_bits issue.)
