I suspect that's less about suits learning from the book and more about
the geeks caring more about overcoming challenges and producing
properly constructed devices than about not getting exploited by suits.
(Of course, the suits are involved too in that they readily exploit
that lack of refusal to be exploited.  A bit less sociopathology in
this area is one reason I prefer working for small companies rather
than big.)
