[rescue] Seeking input: what constitutes a good home

FTGH is based on a trusting relationship, it means I have something, surplus
you my needs, and I want it to go somewhere where it will be appreciated.

For example, let's say I have a widget, and I came into possession of this
widget years ago, and I've kept it until today for some reason - either I
liked it, appreciated its design, or I always wanted one, and finally got one
before it was recycled. Now I've come to the realization that I will never
have a use for it, but rather than admit I held on to it all these years just
to recycle it, I'm hoping someone can validate my holding on to it by
expressing an interest and thanking me for dragging it from house to house for
the past however many years.

If I post an item, and I am unable to find a taker, then I feel like I wasted
all that storage space and effort dragging it around the country with me.

FTGH means please tell me I wasn't wrong to hold on to this item all these
years.

And the basis for deciding between multiple good homes? First one to express
an interest gets it.
