Sorry to intrude,
I'm randomly keeping an eye open for a sb. Would it be better to wait until
spotting a 2500 silver, or a 1500 red would have merit ? ( I think the 1500
uses ide only )

Nope SCSI bus on the 2500.
The earlier 1000 & 2000 did have FC-AL but thankfully not the 2500. At least
I have various SCSI disks floating around but no fiber.
