You are correct.  I'm perfectly willing to believe that your experience
_has_ been "just plug it in and turn it on".

But mine hasn't been.  Or at least not consistently.  I have indeed had
it Just Work, but I've also had it at least need some fiddling.  I'd
say it's roughly half the time - say, somewhere between 1/4 and 3/4 -
that it Just Works and the rest of the time somewhere between "needs
fiddling" and "complete failure".
