Memory faults shouldn't prevent output on the serial ports (of course 
they will fail POST), but you should still get something.

Do you get any video output? I have had terrible luck with serial port 
failures on my machines. They appear dead only for video to kick on 
after the ~10 minute POST.

Has any one else experienced serial port failures? Almost all my sun4m 
machines have failed or unreliable serial ports, I have also had it on a 
Ultra 2 clone.

Not sure if it's only the 8530 based machines, does the U60 use the 8530 
('ZS') or a typical 16550?
