Thanks for the info - a few things to try here. I did try reseating the memory
and CPU, but I may swap in some new memory to see if that helps.

yeah its frustrating when the serial port fails, tried several times and
waited for 15 mins but nothing. PSU holds steady though and all voltages are
within tolerance.

The Blade 1000/2000 and the similarly cased Ultra 80, are in my top 10 Sun
machines. The build quality is just stunning on these systems. The later Blade
1500/2500 were not quite in the same league build wise, but of course better
spec, etc.
