New status update on the SBusFPGA <https://github.com/rdolbeau/SBusFPGA>.
Hardware version 1.2 was made some months ago, featuring more interrupt
lines, a proper USB connector for the USB OHCI Host Controller (with power
support, but SBus power is quite limited so an external self-powered hub is
still a good idea), and a Pmod connector to simplify trying out new stuff.
On the gateware/software side, the micro-sd device is now supported R/W in
NetBSD and R/O in the PROM; so it's possible to boot NetBSD on the SS20
directly from the micro-sd :-)
I also have a custom PMod outputting VGA limited to 2-bits per color
channel (so not pretty, but for testing it's OK). It enabled me to create a
framebuffer device capable of emulating a cg3, cg6 or bw2 with arbitrary
(but fixed) resolution up to 1920x1080. cg6 includes just enough
acceleration (with a micro-coded VexRiscv core) to support the PROM, NetBSD
console and NetBSD X11/EXA acceleration. The Pmod interface is not enough
to get a 'proper' display, but with the internal device working it's just a
PCB redesign away from getting proper VGA and/or HDMI...
Latest device is an I2C bus so I can have a temperature sensor on a PMod
and monitor how hot the SS20 gets.
Cordially,
