They have an external SCSI port and can boot from disks, but have nether
the space nor ventilation for fitting a disk internally.

This whole thread makes me imagine something like the Pine64
Clusterboard[0], only for ELCs and SLCs instead of little ARM
boards--even if that'd mean abandoning the nicest feature of the SLC and
ELC system.  Those black and white CRTs were perfection.
