I realized that I had never seen a Sun 501-2488 auxilliary video boards
needed to use a second VSIMM.
I was able to find an ebay auction with pictures:

It looks like analog video is coming directly from the SBUS slot.
I guess that supports the idea that the RAMDAC is on the VSIMM.
Still doesn't answer the question of the pinout of the extra pins, but
this is mostly just idle curiosity at the moment.
