I second what Ryan said.  Bulk erasing a zip disk will remove all of the 
factory tracking information and will render the disk unusable 
(producing the "clicking" failure).

I have a USB Zip drive and like half a dozen cartridges.  If you need 
someone to reformat your disks for you, I can do that or depending on 
where you are located, lend you my drive.
