There is www.irixnet.org and http://www.sgidepot.co.uk/i2info.html for 
SGI and Indigo2 Extreme information specifically. I used to boot my Irix 
machines from a Plextor CD-R drive in a Sun 411 case.

I gave away all my extra SGI keyboards and mice, so I can no longer help 
you there.  FWIW, I generally preferred using a "modern" optical mouse 
(with a green USB to PS/2 adapter) along with the real SGI keyboard on 
my machines.

Doing an install involves a lot of CD swapping. If you have the 
infrastructure handy, you might consider netbooting to an installer with 
all the CD files copied to a file server.
