1) I got a few people asking me where the tindie store is, the item has yet to be approved for it to appear, but this will be the url: https://www.tindie.com/products/32535/ <https://www.tindie.com/products/32535/>
2) I also got the question how I set up the TenoxVGA adapter. What I did was put a DB9 cable into the Sun. I made an adapter going from DB9 female to DB15 female and used that to connect the Sun cable with the TenoxVGA. On the TenoxVGA outgoing side, it's just a regular VGA cable to a VGA-capable monitor. The TenoxVGA was fed with 12V as well.
The wiring I ended up with (tried a few things) is:
DB9 male (from Sun) DB15 female (to TenoxVGA)
1 ECL+ ---------------- 9
3 HSYNC --------------- 13
4 VSYNC --------------- 14
5 GND ----------------- 5, 10
6 ECL- ---------------- 4
8 SYNC return --------- 15
I think ECL+ should actually go to 4 and ECL- to 9, but at one point I inverted this as I wanted black letters on a white background, but swapping these over did not have any apparent effect. I could also not find much information online about all the pinouts. I just looked at the TenoxVGA schematic and figured out what should probably go where. Use at your own risk.
3) I have an old Sun2 ECL monitor (made by Philips) that has a defect I cannot find. It used to work. Free for pickup in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
Cheers,
Walter.
