Maybe.  If the impedance is not correct, and/or if it's not properly
terminated, you'll get echoes.  If the cable is very short (inches),
they probably won't matter.  If the cable is long, they likely will
matter.

With SCSI you need termination too, for much the same reasons as above
- and you can skip it, sometimes, for much the same reasons as above.
But, like thinnet, SCSI really should be terminated, even if it will
sometimes let you get away without.
