[rescue] How to make Solaris "standalone / not networked"

Hello all,

So when installing Solaris (using 9 in all the below scenarios/tests) - the question is asked whether this system is part of a network. I have always said yes to this.

What would need to be done to change the system to “non networked” after an install in this manner ?

So far, I have renamed hostname[6].<iface> to hostname[6].<iface>.disabled.

I have also added my chosen hostname to the same line as 127.0.0.1 in /etc/hosts. And loghost. I have commented out the “real” IP line there.

This seems to mostly work and get the state I’m looking for. sendmail complains on bootup about localhost being unqualified (I don’t use sendmail on this machine but I’d like to know how to make it happy in this regard). I think rpc keybind something complains too ?

Hope this makes sense.

My use case is testing ISDN on my SS10. Solaris doesn’t seem to change metrics on different network interfaces. So I end up with 2 equal default routes. On modern OSes, they generally make sane decisions to depref WIFI if ethernet is connected for example. So my thought for Solaris is to disable le0/hme0 etc and just let the ISDN ppp interface rule the roost.

Thanks for any advice.
