 It depends on how you define "interop".  There certainly used to be 
Ethernet switches with ATM ports running in the so-called LAN Emulation 
(LANE) mode, essentially carrying Ethernet over ATM.  I have a bunch of 
such switches, the smallest being just a 2U-high rack 10BASE-T unit with 
an ATM LANE option card installed in one of its two option slots (the 
other one with a boring 100BASE-TX option card, without autonegotiation).

 You won't be able to run Classical IP (CLIP) over such a connection of
course, but it will let you make use of the adapter without chasing and/or 
investing into a pile of ATM equipment.

 Incidentally, I'm looking for a PCI version of the adapter (ENI-155p-MF), 
after mine broke last year, with the onboard PCI bus interface chip now 
just wedging the bus.  Here are some photos (not mine) for a reference:
