Back in the day I "rescued" a VAX cluster. Well, a pair of MicroVAXen.
They came with a DSSI SSD in a DSSI expansion box. The SSD had
200something MB of NiCd battery backed DRAM. It was used as quorum disk
for the cluster. Must have been build around 1990.
