Hi All and in particular Mark Thomas;

We too had a problem with RESTORE after a SUSPEND, with the same "short
read...
access .CPR on sd at 3,0:g " type of message. partition g is mounted on
/export/home.
Hmmm.. It seems to me that your analysis is correct. I seem to remember
that the
boot portion needs to be in the first 2G of the disk. Didn't remember
that until
you mentioned it. I tried you solution and now SAVE/RESTORE works. Thank
You.

BTW, we're using IBM DCXA 210000 disks which of course only net out at
about 8.1G
due to the infamous cyl/hd/sect DOS limitation built in. Another story
for another
time.

How to do a clean reboot:
at the prom mon prompt, do a reset command, and while the Sparcbook
banner
is displayed enter pause-a to stop the sequence. Then type " create
no-restore? " and enter. Then type " boot disk ", and the machine will
boot normally.

The trick here was to do a pause-a while the banner is displayed,
otherwise the
create no-restore? will have no effect. I have no idea why this is.
