[SPARCbook] SPARCbook 3 save/resume in Solaris 1.1.2-A.3

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade my SPARCbook 3 hard disk to something bigger than
the 520MB Toshiba MK2428FB 2.5" SCSI drive. The problem is that after
installing Tadpole Solaris 1.1.2-A.3 on any of the other drives I've
tried, I can't get save/resume to work.
The drives I've tried are an IBM DPRS-21215 1215MB SCSI drive and a
Stratos CF to SCSI adapter with an IBM Microdrive DSCM-11000 or a
Transcend 4GB CompactFlash card.
All of these drives work just fine, except that save/resume doesn't
work. I've tried manually enabling save/resume but without success:
# enable_saveresume /dev/sd0e
# save
Powerdown Requested.. Unable to SAVE
I'm aware that the save partition (slice 4) has to be the exact size of
the memory installed. I even tried setting the geometry and partition
layout of a different disk exactly to the values for the working Toshiba
MK2428FB but to no effect.
I reinstalled Solaris to a second Toshiba MK2428FB and save/resume works
out of the box.
Any ideas for what to try next or what the problem might be?
Best regards,
