[Sunhelp] what does "byte displacement overflow at x" mean?

 Hifolks,

 We have an old sparc2 that is running sunos4.1.4.

 Whenever users run emacs, they get an initial message saying:

 "byte displacement overflow at x"

 the message goes away and emacs works fine but is this indicative of a
memory problem, etc?


 /var/adm/messages nor any of the other log files indicate a problem. 

 Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
