[Sunhelp] failed write of utmpx entry:" "

Has anyone ever seen this error before?
I'm getting this error after applying the recommended patches from SunSolve to an x86 machine.  It also says "Cannot create /var/adm/utmp or /var/adm/utmpx"  is there anything I can do about this?
