i;d recommend 2.5.1, or maybe even 7.  i don't have much experience with 7
(went straight from 2.5.1 to 8) but i don't think you'd want to go back as
far as 4.

tell me about it.  i've got a first generation hme card that isn't supported
either.  the good new though, is that my first generation SUN fiber card _is_
supported, so i haven't lost the use of my SPARCstorage Array 112.
