[SunHELP] Problem with inetd.conf

Hi

I am running SUn Ultra5 (sparc) SUn OS 2.7
The config file for inetd.conf is empty and cat /etc/inetd.conf shows only
the following 2 lines
    # cat /etc/inetd.conf
    ftp     stream  tcp    nowait  root    /usr/local/bin/tcpd    in.ftpd
    telnet  stream  tcp    nowait  root    /usr/local/bin/tcpd    in.telnetd
Also,somehow my /var/adm/messages is also not showing anything..
    # cat /var/adm/messages
    #
Isnt this wierd?? Pls help..i wonder what has gone worn with my sun box :o(
