Viva 14400 FAX Modem Settings
The accuracy or usefulness of these settings has not been verified. They were provided by Venkat Iyer, who says they work for him. These settings are provided here as a public service.
The settings are for a VIVA 14400 FAX modem, configured as a full bidirectional modem, running at 8 bits, no parity, with a 38400bps fixed serial-port speed, on port A of a Sparc Classic running solaris 2.4.
Note that in the these settings the ACTIVE PROFILE doesn't matter, since the modem is configured to reset itself after every connection. What matters is what Y is set to ("0" in this example) and what's at that location (STORED PROFILE 0 in this example). The STORED PROFILE 1 is not relevant, but is included for completeness. AT&V displays the settings.
Venkat's suggestion is to first get everything other than E0 V0
correct (leave it at E1 V1
) - because having verbose feedback is
nice when you
are "tip hardwire"ing to the modem. Then, when you're finished with the
modem programming, the last command (to store the programmed settings from
the ACTIVE PROFILE into the NVRAM at location 0) should be
ATE0V0&W0
.
