[geeks] Spouses and stuff (was Re: new lists?)

My wife and I have a simple system:

    We both work.

    She pays the bills (I bounced a check just after we were married, she
was
    so mad she said "that's it, you can't handle this, I'm going to pay the
bills!"
    I gave ther the checkbook, the pile of bills, and everytime she comes
back
    to me, suggesting that maybe I am responsible enough to handle it I
disagree.
    I haven't paid a bill for over 6 years!)

    She puts 100% of her paycheck in the joint bank account.

    I put 65-70% of my paycheck in the joint bank account.

    I never complain about what she does with all the money she gets control
    over, and she never complains about what I do with my 30-35% of my
    paycheck. Of course, my 35% goes for *all* expenses related to me, and
    to her X Mas/birthday/anniversary/mothers day presents (Is it still a
present
    if you write the check to pay for the purchase of the gift someone else
gives
    you?)

Works well for us, folks that hear about our "arrangement" tend to think I
get too much money, but then we point out that if we eat out, we pay cash.
If we buy gas, we pay cash. If we buy groceries, we pay cash. If we buy
clothes we (usually) pay cash.

Of course, pimping Ultra 1s for "huge profits" (kidding ;^) helps me stretch
my budget...
