My wife doesn't work.

I put 100% of my paycheck into *the* checking account - I don't ask
questions.  I am, however, kept in the loop as to where it goes.

I put 100% of my side work (computer repair and network consulting) in the
savings account.  I get to lobby for where that goes (like this coming
summer's motorcycle purchase :).

Works for me - I never have to think about "house" money.  I have a hard
enough time controlling my budget at work.
