[geeks] solaris 8 user problem

OK, I do:

useradd -g 100 -u 500 joshua

which adds the line:
joshua:x:500:100::/home/joshua:/bin/sh
to /etc/passwd

When I log in, I see:
No directory! Logging in with home=/

Now, I remeber being told that this had to do with solaris 8 symlinking
/home/userid to /export/home/userid on login, but I don't remeber what I'm
supposed to do about it, nor am I having much luck finding the answer in
the archives or my mail file (I save almost everything, but I ocasionally
save things to the wrong file, and/or misplace files).
