this is a slight stupidity in useradd.  it just assumes you will be using
automount to get /home.  this is not the case be default on solaris (joy)
so the best thing to do is either stop /home from being an automount spot
or tell useradd '-d /export/home/joshua' so that it puts your home somewhere
where you can actually create a directory.
