We did that and it works. The fence has cut down the number of attempted
terrorist attacks to the point where most of them are stopped before
they happen. 

Of course, there are always the people who believe that the people
on the other side of the border (any border) have the right to 
freely cross that border and take advantage of the less corrupt
government and a  better economy on the other side.
