Oh, sure, there isn't a government agent standing there as your paycheck
gets drawn up making notes in a little black book. And there wouldn't
need to be one standing by at the supermarket checkout counter, either.
Hey, if nothing else, anything that gets rid of the IRS can't possibly
be all bad.

Nope. Just that I don't think it'd necessarily have to be any worse
than it already is. In fact, as Lionel points out, the Federal
government doesn't even have to be directly involved at all. Let the
states collect it along with their own sales taxes and pass it - or
Washington's share of it - on to Washington. And the smaller that share
is, the better, I suggest.
