[geeks] OK, so now *I* have a SCSI problem

Host is a Sun X4540 running Solaris 11.3, into which I just installed an
LSI SAS9207-8E controller which is explicitly documented as supporting
JBOD and Solaris. Attached to this is a J0406T external hot-swap
SAS/SATA chassis (https://www.pc-pitstop.com/scsat44xt) just bought from
PC Pitstop, which *also* asserts that it does JBOD. There are four 1TB
Seagate ST31000NSSUN drives in the external chassis.

And cfgadm -al still shows me only this:

c13                            scsi-sas     connected    configured
unknown
c13::w5000c5001fa517eb,0       disk-path    connected    configured
unknown
c14                            scsi-sas     connected    unconfigured
unknown

I cannot get the system to show me the individual drives in that
chassis, just that one diskpath if there is a drive plugged into slot 1
in the external the chassis. With slot 1 empty, whether or not there is
anything in any of the other 3 slots, I see this:

c13                            scsi-sas     connected    unconfigured
unknown
c14                            scsi-sas     connected    unconfigured
unknown

Format, too, sees only one drive in the external chassis:

...
      16. c5t6d0 <ATA-ST1000DM010-2EP1-CC43-931.51GB>
          /pci at 3c,0/pci10de,375 at b/pci1000,1000 at 0/sd at 6,0
          /dev/chassis/SYS/HDD38/disk
      17. c1t1d0 <ATA-SEAGATE ST31000N-SU0F cyl 953867 alt 2 hd 16 sec 128>
          /pci at 3c,0/pci10de,376 at f/pci1000,1000 at 0/sd at 1,0
          /dev/chassis/SYS/HDD41/disk
      18. c0t5000C5001FA430CEd0 <ATA-SEAGATE ST31000N-SU0F cyl 953867
alt 2 hd 16 sec 128>
          /scsi_vhci/disk at g5000c5001fa430ce

If I swap a different physical drive into *ONLY* slot 1, I see a
different disk path:

c13::w5000c5001fa517eb,0
c13::w5000c5001fa430ce,0

But *only* ever one drive at a time.

I can't help but wonder whether I'm missing something. Can anyone point
out any step I might have missed here?

(Disclaimer: I also have a support request in to the vendor against the
possibility that I might have received a defective chassis in which only
Slot 1 works.)
