[geeks] Old Skynet PS part?

I have an old Skynet power supply. In the copper etch I see an
apparent model number, 850-3433, below which I see "88 16" (perhaps a
fab year and week?). It's a small supply, from a single-device disk
enclosure. It takes mains power and supplies 5V and 12V on a 6-pin
connector (two pins each ground, 5V, and 12V).
It doesn't work; it starts for maybe 50-100 ms, just about long enough
to see a LED light up and a fan start to spin, and then shuts down.
This repeats at about .5 Hz. It looks as though it's going into
overvoltage or overcurrent shutdown and retrying. It does this when
the load consists of just the LED and fan and it also does this if I
put a six-ohm (high-wattage) resistor between 5V and ground (I tried
this in case it's unhappy over having too little load).
I took it out of the enclosure and looked it over. It looked like a
fairly simple circuit, so I was going to trace it out of curiosity.
Then I noticed there is a place on the PCB where the silkscreen
indicates a component - C23, next to the conventional capacitor
(condenser for you European types) symbol - but there is no component
there. Looking closer, the solder side of the board has leads present,
and there are broken wire ends just barely visible from the component
side; it looks as though C23 may have fallen off through bending back
and forth enough to break the leads from metal fatigue or some such.
So, I'd like to solder in a new C23 and see if that makes it work.
The reason I'm writing: does anyone happen to have a parts list for, or
have an example of, 850-3433 to look at, and thus can tell me what C23
is supposed to be? I can trace the circuit (it's a single-layer PCB)
and try to guess, but this is obviously a switcher, and I do not really
know much about SMPSU design. C23's leads are moderately close
together and fairly light wire, but that doesn't really restrict it all
that much.
