Please clarify, are you saying you want to avoid web for day to day
interaction (webmail / etc.) or are you wanting to avoid web interfaces
/ management portals for configuring / administering your domain
registration / dns / etc? Those seem like two very different things to
me. The former is probably a lot easier to achieve than the latter.

I would expect that you can retain your existing domain even if you
can't get it migrated to somewhere satisfactory in a timely enough
manner. Or is expiration part of the timing of -- what seems to be
turning into -- the fiasco.

A and B seems somewhat independent of each other. I also don't see why
it matters if the parent domain is using registrar privacy or not. I
would think that the more important question for a sub-domain would be
if rwhois or swip is supported or not.
