Smells to me like the maintainers don't know SPARC, don't care for or
about SPARC and are using the lack of hardware as an excuse to drop
SPARC support because all they want to work on is 64_x86.

Seems like time to try *BSD again on my Sun Blade 2500 Silver again
since apparently this won't be an option.
