That seems like BS. In the past they haven't been particularly receptive 
to people offering hardware for testing or building.

I think they just don't want users demanding that existing developers 
uninterested in SPARC continue to develop for SPARC when there aren't 
enough developers interested in SPARC to carry that part of the load.
