Now, I'm readily going to admit that I'm weird. That said: I have
four machines on my desk at work; my laptop, an iMac, my workstation
(which uses a 19" Viewsonic monitor) and my SLC (used as a login
station). Of these four, the laptop easily has the best color quality
and is about as sharp as you'd expect from an LCD, but of the three
proper monitors the 17" SLC is easily the nicest for text.

I wish I could get a really high quality black and white monitor, or
at least greyscale, now; I'd use dual head so I could view my
pr0n^Wweb sites on one monitor, but actually code and stuff on the
sharper of the two.

Black and white also has the appealing quality of being very easy to
color match; both my monitors at home swear blind they're at the same
color temperature, but they fundamentally disagree on just about
everything about that temperature.
