[SunRescue] RE: PHP/MySQL/Apache on Solaris...

Of course I have an SS/20 (w/dual SM71s no less - doesn't everyone? They are quite handy to have around...) I will build the SS/20 up and try that software out on that machine.
BTW, their install is interesting - they tell you run a setup program, that actually starts a little web server, then you fire up a browser on a machine, point your browser at htt://www.yourserver.com:4001/ and then click on the install button. Performance "inhales deeply" on a 1x CD-ROM drive, though...
Also, one of the freeware links off sunhelp.org has Apache and PHP packages listed, pre-compiled. I will tinker with those a bit, if I get a chance - they seem to be *ready to go*. I forget which site it was, but I do remember the page background was black, and it wasn't SUNsite for SPARC or x86, so that leaves you with two choices, IIRC.
I have no idea what SPARC III maps to - I'm afraid to ask them for fear of starting my 30 days of tech support "clock"...
Oh, and wouldn't an Ultra be a V8++ ;^)

well, it doesn't want an ultra, but it definitely won't run on your sparc5
which is a V7 CPU. got a sparc20 laying around to try it on?

SPARC III, hmm, i wonder what that translates to in "real" CPU names.

it will run on an ultra, yes, since ultra is V9 and meets your requirements of
being at least V8+
