And actual *transit* of Priority Mail is now done by FedEx; your local
post office hands it to fedex, which sends it to the depot nearest the
destination postal station, which hands it off to that station for
delivery.

Rather similar to the Airborne at Home service.

Yep, thats why they keep raising rates.

After the rate hikes, UPS Ground is now cheaper than Priority Mail 
for anything over one pound, i think it is.
