I don't recall the exact rate to send letters in India, but *all*
mail is hand sorted and at most, letters are 2 days from any other
place in India (packages are a different story, for a number of
reasons).  Mail is about the only efficient thing in the whole
country as far as I was able to tell.

Now Canada, is a different story.  Since we have Canadians on the
list, I'll let them rant about it except to say:  Three days from
one side of Vancouver to the other (consitently) is shameful for
a westernized country's postal service.
