AFAIK Slackware was born out of SLS. The then firs (or damn close)

How many acknowledge existence of RH7 on sparc?
They're a very commercial company not hot on community efforts and
non-profitable ports. You want some big grudge against RH, use that.
(up2date sucks as well and all those -conf[ig] programs.[0])
[0] no, chkconfig is not one of them.
