[rescue] SPARC memory query

Hi does anyone know why Sun seem to have persisted in designing their
'new' servers around Fast Page memory (asynchronous memory) when
synchronous memory has been around for a number of years? The U1 through
to E420 for example uses 60ns asynchronous memory and I'm fairly sure
sync. memory was around when these machines were released? I would have
thought synchronous memory would have far greater burst transfer rates..
