[rescue] SPARCprinter follies continued.

Check paper size settings.  I've seen similar problems when printing to
US Letter (8.5" x 11") paper with software that was configured for the
slightly narrower but taller A4 size.

I suspect that LibreOffice is correctly configured to match the actual
paper size of your printer and overriding the system-wide default, while
GEdit is simply using the default paper size which might be incorrectly
set.  Since you're using Ubuntu, check the /etc/papersize file and make
sure it matches what you're using.  I've seen Debian (and derivatives
such as Ubuntu) default to European "A4" when I actually use "letter".
