That is where I was heading, but didn't get to, in my question.

Put another way, until you have TWO chassis, there is not that much
(practical) difference between this Onyx system and a current x86 machine with
similar number of cores & RAM/storage.

The ability to scale the machine across multiple chassis and maintain a single
system image is the differentiator.

(I never meant to imply that you could combine x86 boxes and maintain a single
system image.)
