PCI-X LSI1068 SAS controller might do the job; you can flash a
standard (PC) one to the Sun (OpenFirmware) and boot from them. They
are now quite old and dirt cheap on eBay.
It works fine in my SunBlade 2500:

I've yet to try a SATA drive or SSD, but the SAS one is my Linux drive
now and except for a slow boot (before the driver kicks in) it works
perfectly.
Beware that all SAS controller I've ever seen are 3.3v, can't remember
if that's OK in an Ultra 60 (wikipedia says yes for _one_ slot...)
