We make a bunch of repair boards for various battery-backed NVRAM modules,
such as the M48T02, M48T08, DS12887, etc. You can read about the M48T02
version here:
http://www.glitchwrks.com/2017/08/01/gw-48t02-1
Some of our modules are replacements built using the original ICs, when they
are available, such as the GW-12887-1. Some are just rebuilds since the chips
needed are not available, such as the GW-48T02-1. Others are total
replacements, like the GW-1244-1, which replaces the DS1244Y NVRAM with
Phantom RTC:
https://www.glitchwrks.com/2018/03/17/gw-1244-1
The total replacements are built with Batten & Allen pins to both avoid damage
to original sockets, and to meet height restrictions. We're working on a
module that works as a drop-in full replacement for the M48T02 that's built in
the same style as the GW-1244-1.
Everything we currently have in production is available through our Tindie
store for hobbyists:
https://www.tindie.com/stores/glitchwrks/
We do offer our products for commercial/industrial customers at higher prices,
with warranty and support, but sell them for significantly less on Tindie
without official warranty or support (though we'll try and help via email if
you have issues). Some of the more popular ones are also on eBay, but we
charge more on eBay since the fees are higher and, honestly, we'd rather drive
sales to Tindie.
Thanks,
Jonathan
