[rescue] AlphaServer DS20E RMC access

I have an AlphaServer DS20E in my collection that I would like to put to a rack in a colo and this assumes I can get RMC console to function. However, I have not succeeded so far.

I have serial console on COM1 with my trusty null modem cable to a Dell D600 laptop native serial DE9 COM1 port, is fine with minicom, @9600 8N1. when I try RMC escape sequence, it's just like letters rmc.

Any ideas about what could be wrong?
