Well, these both seem obvious to me, but I've missed the obvious often
enough myself, so:

Maybe someone changed the RMC escape sequence?  (See pages 10-5 and
10-12 in the PDF - though 10-12, oddly, does not describe how to
indicate the end of the new escape sequence.  See also pages 10-15,
10-16, and 10-17 for how to recover from an unknown escape sequence.)

Maybe someone left the switch set to disable RMC?  (See pages 10-14 and
10-15 in the PDF.)
