My editor (acme) makes heavy use of all 3 mouse buttons, so the Sun mouse should be ideal, and of course I love a proper Unix layout keyboard.

Is this one of those cases where I need to just watch ebay until a good deal comes up, or am I unlikely to ever find one for less?

I've built that Suniversal converter and it's working fine, and to the
amusement of many, being a standard USB HID device I've even used it
even in the office - I work at a large financial firm so it's not the
usual sight nowadays.
I don't think the price of the Type 5s will go down soon on the auction
sites, so in my opinion you'll need to sit it out until a reasonably
priced auction comes along - I could justify one for myself for $50, but
more only if it's really rare or really in NOS state. Make sure you keep
looking not only for the "type 5" string, as there might be ones which
are incorrectly titled, usually unwillingly by the seller.
